Joke Silva is a Nigerian actress, director, and businesswoman. She was born in Lagos State, Nigeria, on September 29, 1961. Joke is known for her excellent acting skills and her charming personality, which have made her one of the most popular and respected female actors in Nigeria.

Her Early Life

Joke Silva was born to Chief Ajao and Dr. Abimbola Silva. Her father was a lawyer and her mother was a doctor. Joke’s parents were prominent in their respective fields and were very influential in their community. Joke grew up in a family that valued education and the arts. Her passion for acting was evident from an early age, and she knew that she wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

 

Her Career

Joke Silva began her acting career in 1981 when she featured in the popular television series, “The Village Headmaster.” She has been in the industry for over three decades and has featured in several movies, stage plays, and television shows. Some of her notable roles include “The Secret Laughter of Women,” “Diamond Ring,” “Widows Cot,” and “Hear Word.”

Joke Silva is also a director and has directed several stage plays and television shows. She is the co-founder of Lufodo Group, a production company that focuses on promoting Nigerian culture through entertainment. The company has produced several movies, stage plays, and television shows.

 

Her Contributions to the Entertainment Industry

Joke Silva has made significant contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry. She has played diverse roles and has won several awards for her outstanding performances. In 2006, she was awarded the National Order of Merit by the Nigerian government for her contributions to the arts. She was also honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2016.
