International Women Day: Govt urged to reflect on role of women in nation-building
The National Coalition on Affirmative Action (NCAA) has urged government and leaders in decision making at all levels and spheres of life to reflect on the role women play in nation building and create a conducive atmosphere and balanced leadership based on gender and equity for a progressive nation.
This call was made by Hon.(Dr.) Amb. Florence Gbinigie, (JP), President of Forum of Nigerian Women in Politics, FONWIP in a statement to mark the 2024 International women’s day with the theme: ” Invest in Women; accelerate progress.”
She further advocated for the need to support women with all the socio-economic opportunities available in order to promote sustainable growth and development in the economy, stressing that, “ the opening up of access to socio-economic opportunities which include access to education, financial opportunities, leadership and employment will further enhance all inclusive society needed for the advancement and development of the potentials of women.”
The coordinator of the coalition Hon. Florence Gbinigie advised all women to work towards the change they actually deserve and She admonished more women to use their unique roles, have sense of belonging, relevance empowered to collectively forge through a more inclusive world.
Furthermore, she said that women should make most of their potentials, whether in business, politics, science, technology, family or in education.
