An appeal has been made to the Federal Government to intervene in the increasing cost of education in Nigeria to enable majority of children have access to education.
The appeal was made by the twin sisters, Prida and Paula Idiahi in an interview during their eleventh years birthday celebration in Benin City.
According to the twin sisters, also known as Odion and Akhere, the burden of educating children by most parents due to the high cost of education is leading to several children dropping out of school.
They also urged children to concentrate on their education and encourage their parents who are sacrificing a lot to send them to school despite the high cost of living in the country.
While acknowledging the influence of their Mathematics teacher, Aunty Priscilia Ojemen at Baptist High School in Benin City, the JSS1 students noted that she has made them develop interest in the subject.
They also expressed appreciation to their parents for organizing the birthday celebration for them inspite of the fact that they were about to begin another session when they are expected to pay school fees.
