The Osun State Police Command has announced the arrest of two armed robbers operating within the Osogbo metropolis. The suspects, Adesina Hammed, 29, and Oyeladun Iyanu, 28, were apprehended for their involvement in a robbery incident that took place on June 14
According to the police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, the two suspects, along with two others who are still at large, accosted two men on a motorcycle in the Olaiya area of Osogbo. Armed with cutlasses, they forcefully obtained a sum of N400,000 from their victims. They also robbed the victims of their iPhone 13, which they later sold for N140,000 in Osogbo.
The arrest of the suspects was made possible through reports and complaints from the general public. The police command had received information about the activities of these “mini kidnappers” who were involved in kidnapping and forceful extortion. The anti-cultism squad swung into action and apprehended the two suspects while the search for the remaining two gang members continues.
In another incident, the police arrested Yusuf Adamu, a Kebbi State indigene, who was found in possession of a stolen electricity cable. The arrest was made based on distress calls received by the police. Adamu was caught with the cable in the wee hours of the morning, and he has since confessed to stealing the item.
The Osun State Police Command has declared a war on criminals operating in the state and has given a marching order to its operatives to arrest all suspects linked to the crimes committed by those already in custody. The command is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the residents of Osun State.
