A prominent member of the Civil rights community in Nigeria, and a member of the Movement for National Reformation (MNR) Igwe Alexander Nonyelum Ayotalumuo is dead at the age of 71 years.

Until his death, he was the cabinet Secretary of Ndichie Enugwu and a very close confidant of the Igwe.
Alexander Nonyelum Ayotalumuo was the Senior prefect at All Hallows Seminary Onitsha, In the 1970s.
Alex Ayatolla as he was known in the civil rights community attended the University of Nigeria Nsukka and Anambra State University of Technology Enugu where he studied Civil Engineering.
Ayatolla was a founding member of National Association of Nigerian Students ( NANS), A Founding member of Campaign for Democracy headed by Dr Bekolari Ransome Kuti.
The founding Secretary General of the Movement for National Reformation MNR .
Ayatolla was among the 49 founding Signatories of National Democratic Coalition( NADECO ) that was instrumental in the restoration of Democracy in Nigeria in 1999.
He was Elected Secretary General of Enugwu Agidi Brotherly Union( EBU) and later became the President General of EBU with the exit of the then President, and was re elected president General of EBU.
Ichie Udo was a cabinet member of Enugwu Agidi council of Ndichie.
According to the statement, this Human rights activist was a former Seminarian who held his Catholic beliefs very close, a Radical for the Restoration of the Dignity of Man, a man for Tough seasons, a Reformative Social Crusader ,
Alex Ayatola, as he was popularly called, was one of the leaders of the Nsukka Movement for Popular Democracy -MPD. It was the incubating house where, in collaboration with other younger COMRADES- the Obasi Igwes raised him and the likes of Ubani Chima, Emmanuel Ezeagu, Andy Nkemneme, the Soludo’s, etc, etc.
He was a tireless actor and fervent believer in our cause to remake man and remake society for the liberation of man from the shackles of exploitation and domination.
A tribute by Emeritus Professor Comrade T. Uzodinma Nwala, IKENGA ALAIGBO noted that, ” Quite sad to miss this wonderful gentleman, a staunch member of the MNR family, who stood convincingly on the path of restoring Nigeria from the brink of total collapse. May his gentle soul repose in eternal glory. A rugged fighter for human rights and the restructuring of Nigeria along ethnic lines for democracy that allows healthy competition in democracy as propagated by the MNR,”
