Mr Olufemi Ajadi, the governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), in Ogun State, has disclosed that the former governor of the state, Mr Ibikunle Amosun, persuaded him to step down for his choice candidate, Biyi Otegbeye of the African Democratic Congress.

While speaking in Abeokuta on Thursday, Ajadi recounted how he rejected promises offered by Amosun, stating that NNPP is not in alliance with any political party.

According to the NNPP governorship candidate, he rejected the offers because it is not in the interest of the people of the state.

He said,

“When his candidate was still in court, I met with Amosun and he wanted to support me but unfortunately, we could not work together because his candidate, Biyi Otegbeye eventually won the case. That was the reason why our meeting could not yield any positive result.

“Amosun was the only one who had called me to step down for Biyi Otegbeye and I was offered a lot of things, but I could not agree because I can’t sell Nigerian youths because I’m an ambassador for the Nigerian youths.

“I am still in the race; there is no going back on my ambition, I’m not in any alliance with any political party or candidate.”

“Nobody has the funds to buy my party and Olufemi Ajadi, they don’t have that fund. No politician in Nigeria has that fund to buy me off the ballot.

“As long as I am still standing as an ambassador for the Nigerian youths, I can never sell out. I am still standing on my feet and we are not negotiating with any political party and we are not ready to negotiate.

“Although I have been told that it is always good to have alliance with other political parties, I don’t believe in such because I believe that it is only God that can enthrone a leader.
