UNIBEN wins Africa outstanding varsity award

The University of Benin has been honoured with an award in Rwanda. The institution was awarded the Africa Outstanding University of the Year Award, 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda, on March 24.

This was revealed in a press statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Benedicta Ehanire. In addition the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Lilian Salami, was awarded the Africa Pillar of Education for her impact in education development across Africa.

Ehanire stated that the awards were presented at the First Africa Education Summit which held at the University of Rwanda, Kigali, Rwanda.

Ehanire said besides holding a position of leadership role in the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Federal Universities, the VC is the Vice President of the Association of African Universities with it’s headquarters in Ghana.

She added that ever since she assumed the position she has been projecting and promoting the achievements of many African universities, including the University of Benin.
