President Bola Tinubu has recently made a significant move in the realm of Nigerian immigration. On February 21, 2024, he officially approved the appointment of DCG Kemi Nanna Nandap as the new Comptroller-General (CG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). This decision comes in light of the expiration of the term of the previous CG, Mrs. Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, on February 29, 2024.

**A Brief Background on Kemi Nanna Nandap**

Prior to her elevation to the topmost position in the NIS, Kemi Nandap held the position of Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) in charge of the Migration Directorate of the Service. With an extensive background in immigration and border management, Nandap is poised to bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new role.

**The President’s Vision for the NIS**

President Tinubu has articulated a clear vision for the Nigeria Immigration Service under Nandap’s leadership. Furthermore, he emphasizes the importance of border security and migration management, urging Nandap to lead proactively and effectively in this regard.

Mrs. Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, the outgoing CG, had been serving in an acting capacity since June 1, 2023, before her official appointment in December 2023. This continuity in leadership ensures a smooth transition and the preservation of the service’s momentum toward its goals.

Kemi Nandap brings a wealth of experience and credentials to her new role. As an NIS officer, she has undergone various training programs, including those at the Immigration Training School Kano, Immigration Command and Staff College Sokoto, and the National Institute for Security Studies Lower Usman Dam Bwari, Abuja. Additionally, she has received training in Emotional Intelligence and Transformation Leadership, further enhancing her leadership capabilities.

She is also a fellow of the Pass Command Course, a fellow of the Security Institute of Nigeria, and a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. Her impressive credentials and professional background are a testament to her capability and preparedness for this role

**In Conclusion**
