He emphasized that football is about unity and that targeting a single player for the team’s shortcomings is unfair. Other players, including William Troost-Ekong and Kenneth Omeruo, expressed their support for Iwobi and condemned the cyberbullying. Former international player Victor Ezeji also criticized the attack on Iwobi and reminded fans of the players’ efforts to represent the country. This is not the first time Iwobi has faced cyberbullying, as he previously deactivated his Instagram account after receiving abusive messages following a defeat in the 2024 edition of the tournament.
