Police in Niger State have initiated a manhunt for suspects involved in the fatal stabbing of a man, Abdulmutalib, in his early 30s. The incident occurred on Sunday night at Old Secretariat Road, where a group of young men attacked the victim, demanding his phone.
According to witnesses, Abdulmutalib was walking with his phone in his pocket when he was confronted by the assailants. When he resisted their demand to hand over the phone, one of the attackers stabbed him in the neck with a dagger. The attackers then fled the scene with the phone, leaving the victim to succumb to his injuries before help could arrive.
The rise in violent phone-snatching incidents has caused significant concern among residents of Minna, the state capital. Some citizens have expressed frustration with the authorities, criticizing their lack of action in addressing the growing security threat posed by these criminals.
Residents are calling for a stronger response from both the state government and security forces to curb the increasing criminal activity in the area. The police have confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, and efforts to apprehend the suspects are being intensified.
