They said the construction company NewMap , who gives directives to heartland construction company created some pounds in the area to control the Erosion but block the pound in some part.
one of the landlords who spoke to Obaland TV, sam Ekeziel, said ” when I can to this area five years ago it was not like this, when Newmap and State government brought the project they were told they will enjoy the project in the area”, he added that erosion is threatening them in the area, he called on NewMap and government to come to rescue their area and houses from Erosion.
meanwhile another who spoke, sunny Aichienede, said the pound 5 is blocked because some mallam who lives in the area dump trash in the pound, he added, the pound is filled up and is overflowing into their compound and the area he call on the ministry of environment to evacuate them from the area.
Mr Godwin, who is also a resident, accuse NewMap of abandoning the area and making life unbearable for them living in the area, he call on NewMap to come fix the pound, meanwhile a landlady,hajiah Fatima Audu, who said her Tenant called her that erosion has entered her house, plead with NewMap and state government to come to their aid, another old woman who could not live her compound due to the erosion in her compound, said, she has not eaten and could not go outside to get what to eat.
meanwhile at the time of this report, New map project coordinator, Tom Obaseki was not on sit, but according to heart land project engineer, engineer Solomon, said if they try to open the pound where they blocked it, it will affect other areas, he said they are managing the situation, and nothing they can do in this raining season.
