Osibanjo decries money politics for 2021

Due to the tension ahead of the 2023 general election, Vice President Professor Yemi Osibanjo has called for an end to the money that plays an important role in the nation’s leadership hiring process.

Speaking Monday night in Abuja at the launch of a book titled “Politics That Works: What School and Seminars Won’t Teach You About Winning Elections,” Osibanjo said credible leaders, particularly young people, have Difficulties in holding an elective office due to lack. of money.

“The problem in politics is money. Money has an important role to play in politics. Those who have money tend to move faster and in control of structures, ”he said.

Osibanjo, while calling for political mentorship for the youth, also asked potential leaders to be available to serve even in lower capacities in preparation for higher responsibilities.

“By serving in one capacity or another, you will gain the experience you need to perform better in your future endeavours. Every country deserves a good leader, “he added.

Also speaking, former Edo State Governor and immediate former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole said that leadership ability has nothing to do with age.

Oshiomhole recalled that in 1966, when General Yakubu Gowon came to power, he was in his 30s, adding that after the return to democracy, Nigeria produced governors who were also 40 years old.

He called on Nigerians to give competent leaders the opportunity to contribute their quotas to national development, regardless of their age.
