The Bayelsa State government has reiterated that henceforth only qualified directors in the state civil service will be appointed as permanent secretaries.

This was disclosed by the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, while receiving in audience the paramount ruler, Ojo Magbisa, and the national executive council of Sagbama Federated Community in the Government House, Yenagoa, on Thursday.

This he said while responding to a request made by the national president of the council, Ebi Evinson, that the government should consider Sagbama civil servants who are directors for appointment as permanent secretaries.

Ewhrudjakpo, made this known in a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Doubara Atasi, where he said that the decision was part of a new policy of the administration concerning the appointment of permanent secretaries.

He added that the government would only appoint civil servants in the mainstream and not appoint civil servants working in parastatals, agencies and extra-ministerial departments.

β€œThe new policy is to promote professionalism, efficiency and productivity in the state civil service,” he said.
