In the Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, gunmen kidnapped the Oba of Idofin, Shedrack Obibeni, and his unidentified man and wife on Monday. The victims were kidnapped around 5 p.m. on the Makutu-Idofin Road in Kogi State, according to the News Agency of Nigeria. Abdulrasak Asiru, Chairman of Yagba East Local Government Area, confirmed the incident and described it as extremely sad and shocking. Asiru stated, "The kidnapping of our respected Oba and his wife this evening has left me, as the chairman of the council, and the people of Yagba East in great shock." This is because this LGA has a very strong security architecture that keeps an eye on us and keeps criminals away from us. According to what I've learned, the kidnappers had a good plan for this incident because, in less than ten minutes, the Oba and his wife moved out to see something. The council boss said that other traditional rulers and community leaders in Okun land had been contacted to be vigilant and conduct a thorough search for the couple's rescue. The Kogi monarch and his wife were kidnapped by gunmen. SP Williams Ovye-Aya, the state Public Relations Officer, stated, "As we speak, our hunters and vigilante group are already out into the bushes searching for the criminals so that we can rescue our Oba and his wife as soon as possible." However, the Divisional Police Officer had not yet informed him of the incident.
