Young people under the support of the Igbogbo Youth Alliance have whined over the difficulty prompted by deserted street activities and foundations in the Igbogbo-Bayeku Nearby Gathering Improvement Area of Lagos State.19 June 2023: Man sentenced to three months in prison for defrauding POS worker

Kazeem Ogunmuyiwa, the group’s president, lamented the poor state of the local government area’s infrastructure and stated that houses had been demolished to make way for the construction of abandoned roads.

Ogunmuyiwa asked the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to intervene to alleviate the suffering of residents in the local government area during a press conference on Saturday.

“Dear Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State,” he said. We put in a lot of thought and effort to firmly persuade, caution, and promise on your behalf. Particularly in light of the unimaginable outcome of the presidential election in Lagos State, we gained souls for you.

“Our people marched out in droves and cast a lot of votes for you; this kingdom delivered a lot more than any LCDA in Ikorodu Division,” the statement reads. A society, especially one that is supportive, can enjoy the meaningful governance it deserves as a result of democracy and its active progressive disposition without too much effort.

Unfortunately, your government’s disrespect for the Igbogbo Kingdom is troubling. To begin, construction is still ongoing on the Adegboruwa Road, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Igbe Road, and Igbogbo. A meeting with stakeholders marked the beginning of the construction in November 2017, which was followed by the demolition in December 2017. A number of monuments were sacrificed to make way for what we anticipate to be a monumental development.

Ogunmuyiwa stated that the majority of the affected families had not yet received the promised compensation and that the road construction had caused more damage in the area than anyone could have imagined.

“We have reached our tolerance limit!” he declared. Since 2017, the Ansar-Deen Primary School, United Africa Methodist Primary School (Eleja), Oreyo Grammar School, Zumratul Islamiyah Grammar School, Reri Grammar School, Oreta, and Community Grammar School in Igbogbo and Bayeku have all experienced daily trauma to their students and teachers.

How can a project not be finished quickly?

“Health, as they say, is wealth; therefore, we appeal to Mr. Governor to complete the rehabilitation of the Igbogbo Primary Healthcare Centre in Agbele, which previously served ten communities but is now abandoned. We are aware that the Obafemi Awolowo Way is being built, but it pains us that the project is moving at such a snail’s pace.

Ogunmuyiwa stated that the association would not relent in its demand for improved public amenities, social justice, equity, and fair governance throughout the Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.

Sesan Daini, Chairman of the Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA, reacted by stating that the youth’s concerns were legitimate and that the contractors in charge of the projects had reiterated their commitment to continue working shortly.

Daini stated, “The Adegboruwa Road, Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, and Igbe Road are the most significant of the issues raised.” On Saturday, the youths held a press conference, which coincided with the arrival at the palace of the managing director of the construction company Hitech.

“The contractors are wrapping up preparations for moving to the site to continue the job. They have informed us of the government’s position. There is no abandonment of the Obafemi Awolowo Way. The speed is positive. At that rate, they ought to let it go.

Regarding the stadium, things are moving very slowly. I know that a meeting was held on Friday, and it was promised that the stadium might be finished by September or October. The government will not slack off in its efforts to complete all projects that have been put on hold.On June 20, 2023, youths seek Sanwo-Olu's assistance with abandoned projects.
