The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, on Saturday, said ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo ordering traditional rulers in Oyo State to stand and welcome Lead representative Seyi Makinde, at a venture introduction in Iseyin, Oyo State, was commensurate to spoiling of Yoruba customary stools.
A brief video of Obasanjo, who communicated in Yoruba language, had surfaced on the internet, communicating disappointment to the rulers for not ascending to welcome Makinde, depicting the activity of illustrious dads as impolite to the workplace of the lead representative.
Responding, Oba Akanbi, in an explanation endorsed by his Press Secretary, Alli Ibrahim, condemned the previous president’s activity and requested a letter of conciliatory sentiment from him.
The Oluwo blamed the royal fathers who complied with Obasanjo’s directive, insisting that Yoruba monarchs could not be treated like uniform men who would be directed around.
The assertion read, “I trust myself and my stool. In death, there are sure things my spirit won’t take not to mention when alive, dynamic, and kicking. I just fault the rulers who remained in regard to such a dishonorable and spoiling of customary establishments from the elderly person. Respect ought to be earned rather than demanded.
“Customary rulers regard their subjects as well. There is a way regard is concurred to individuals of advanced age and position by rulers. God has established kingship. In that capacity, relating with rulers requires a high feeling of unobtrusiveness, graciousness, and regard.
“The showcase by the previous leader of Nigeria, General Obasanjo was an attack, a deliberate defilement and blasphemy against venerated stools of Yorubaland. A physical issue to one is a physical issue to all. Yoruba customary rulers are not uniform men anybody can order voluntarily. I don’t fault him, those regal dads who rose up to submit to such a humiliating course are to be accused.
The former general’s performance deserves to be condemned. Yoruba conventional organizations request a conciliatory sentiment for the open defilement to attack and cut down the foundation. He really wants to show what him can do as a center Yoruba man with a statement of regret letter. Rulers are not babies. We are fathers. He won’t ever dare that against the Northern Emirs.”
