Obaseki extends his condolences to Alenkhe, chair of the Edo NUJ, on the loss of his mother

The mother of Comr. Festus Alenkhe, chairman of the Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Madam Rose Akuogbe Alenkhe, passed away, and Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki has expressed his condolences.

In a statement, Obaseki eulogized the late matriarch as a kind soul who cared deeply about her family and community. He praised her for her quiet dignity and said that she will be remembered as a tranquil mother.

I am grieved by the news of the demise of Madam Rose Akuogbe Alenkhe, mother of Comrade Festus Alenkhe, Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), who died away at the age of 76,” the governor stated.

“Madam Rose Akuogbe Alenkhe was a kind, self-effacing, sensitive, and loving person who had a very remarkable life. She believed strongly in the importance of family and had a profound effect on all those she met.

For his part, Obaseki said, “I mourn with the Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Festus Alenkhe, and the whole Alenkhe family, friends, and acquaintances and hope that God may provide everyone the strength to endure the irreparable loss.”
