Nigerians mourn’s Majek’s Demise

News of the passing away of Nigerian-born reggae musician, Majek Fashek has thrown the showbiz industry into mourning, as Nigerians have started paying tribute the multiple award-winning singers.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majek_Fashek

The news of Majek’s demise was announced by his manager, Usoma Omenka via Instagram.

“I’ve been having pressure calls from all over. Yes, it is true that the legend has gone to meet with the lord. This time, I want to say we should all celebrate him, his achievement.

“He has done a lot for Nigeria, Africa. Whatever the family decides, It will get to you. This is all I have to say for now”, Omenka wrote.

Born in Benin City to an Edo mother and an Ijesha father, the celebrated Nigerian artist was adjudged to be the best during his time with a slew of hits to his name.

He rattled the music scene with his hit songs like ‘So long, too long’, and the track ‘Send down the Rain’ in 1998, from his ‘Prisoner of Conscience’ hit album.

The Rainmaker, as he is fondly called has worked with renowned musicians like Michael Jackson, Tracy Chapman, Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Cliff and Beyoncé.

According to Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki who joined other Nigerians to mourn the maestro’s demise, Majekodunmi Fasheke, known as Majek Fashek “took the world by storm with his enigmatic talent”.

Godwin Obaseki, via his Twitter handle (@GovernorObaseki), paid glowing tributes to Majek.

“I mourn the death of quintessential, maverick musician and Edo son, Majek Fashek.”

“Fashek, who took the world by storm with his enigmatic talent, remains one of the finest cultural icons of his age and would be remembered for his disarming craft and skill.”

He died at the age of 57
