Afrobeat originated from various Nigerian and Ghanaian music legends, readers might argue this blindly, but at Obaland Magazine, we normally write from deep researches made by our inhouse music critics and not Wikipedia articles. Before the prominent evergreen Afrobeat Legend came stardom globally, a Ghanaian Afrobeat musician  Ebo Taylors, already paved way for the music Genre worldwide, whereby he released songs under World and Highlife music genre, but his fame and recognitions weren’t affiliated with activism like that of blessed memory Fela Kuti.  Afrobeat wasn’t listed as a music genre in the ’60s, ’70s.

Now let’s quickly listen to Four selected tracks from Burna Boy, M-Josh, Ebo Taylor and late  Fela Kuti before we proceed to a final review of  M.Josh songs.

Burna Boy

M-Josh

Ebo Taylor

Fela Kuti

Taking a proper listen to the above-selected songs, will give a clear idea of who represents Fela Kutì’s vision and activism put together. Burna Boy‘s music is a fusion of Fela Kuti’s song while M-Josh represents more Fela Kuti in performances, music arrangement and social concerns with no doubt.

Taking a look at the emergence of M-Josh into the Nigeria music industry where most music videos are seen colourful, sometimes shot by Clarence Peters, M-Josh had used his local music video quality as his brand that speaks reality, probably shot with a made in Nigeria phone and not any sophisticated

video cameras like red, Canon and others in that range wasn’t a big deal to the singer, all he needed was to do a good music.  Children or some Nigerian media companies, radio presenters  and Television stations haven’t spotted the music and entertainment potentials in  M-Josh

Why some music business mogul might rate him irrelevant after listening to other party music in the industry that hasn’t impacted social lives in Nigeria. M-Josh music lifestyle, low-quality video is already a brand to reckon with in future. His ideas had triggered many upcoming Afrobeat singers to incline

into shooting  music videos with their android phones instead of wasting precious time waiting

Clarence Peters.
