According to the spokesperson for the state police command, SP Omolola Odutola, the incident was reported by Olaife Momoh, the girlfriend of the accused, and took place at about 2 pm on Sunday. Taiwo allegedly stabbed Momoh with bottles during the heated argument over the phone that Momoh had borrowed from him.

Providing updates on the incident, Odutola stated, “An assault resulting in harm has occurred. I am pleased to inform you that today, July 21, at about 1400hrs, a woman named Olaife Momoh, residing at 11 Sowemimo Street, Akera, Agbado, Ogun State, reported to the station that her boyfriend, Dada Taiwo, of 34, Crossing Road, Agbado, aged 35, had a dispute with her elder brother, Damilola Momoh, aged 34, over a phone her brother borrowed.”

She further added, “During the argument, the suspect, armed with a bottle, stabbed her brother in the neck, causing severe injuries and profuse bleeding. The victim has been rushed to a hospital in Agbado for medical treatment. The suspect has been apprehended and is currently under interrogation at the station. Further updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.”

Expressing concern over the incident, Odutola cautioned individuals to control their anger and avoid resorting to violence, as it could lead to dire consequences. She advised young people to report any hurtful incidents to the nearest police station and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

The Ogun State Police Command is taking this incident seriously and will ensure that justice is served. The victim’s condition is being closely monitored, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

It is crucial for society to address conflicts and disagreements peacefully, promoting dialogue and understanding rather than resorting to violence. The tragic incident serves as a reminder for individuals to seek non-violent means of resolving disputes, preserving the sanctity of human life.
