JUST IN -Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain, has died

Demola Seriki, Nigeria’s ambassador to Spain, has died. The politician from Lagos passed away in Madrid, Spain, when he was 63 years old.

His children published a statement on Thursday to inform the public of his passing away. According to the statement, the death of the Nigerian ambassador to Spain occurred in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

“It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude to Almighty Allah that we announce the passing of our much-loved and admired patriarch, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, His Excellency, Ambassador Demola Seriki, on December 15, 2022. His life was filled with love for his family and friends, and he was deeply loved by all.

According to the statement, “He passed away quietly surrounded by his family in Madrid, Spain.” [citation needed]

After being nominated to his post as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain in January 2021, he remained in that role until the time of his passing in 2022.

He served in that capacity from 2009 until 2010, during which time he was also Minister of State for the Interior.

In May 2009, His Royal Highness Oba Rilwan Akiolu, also known as the Oba of Lagos, granted the chieftainship title of Otun Aare of Lagos upon Demola Seriki.

He held the position of Nigeria’s Minister of State for Agriculture and Water Resources from 2007 till the end of his term in 2008.

He held the position of Supervising Minister for Mines and Steel Development from October 2008 till December of that same year.

Between the years 2008 and 2009, he also served as Minister of State for Defense.
