Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, recently declared that his desire for the northern area to cede the position of Peoples Democratic Party national chairman to the southern region in order to ensure long-term peace within the party has not changed.

The governor continued by saying that he had no issues with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who is running for president as the candidate of the PDP.

Wike disclosed this information on Tuesday during a birthday celebration that was held at his private property in Rumueprikom and was attended by his political colleagues as well as elders from the state of Rivers, led by the chairman of the Rivers Elders Council, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba.

According to his own words: “I don’t regret that I ran for president. In the name of God, I am overjoyed to be able to bring honor to the state of Rivers. As far as I am concerned, everything is going according to plan. My victory in the election would have been assured if they had just let it be the way it was designed to work. But it’s okay. It has already taken place.

“Some people told me that it doesn’t matter because I didn’t win the election. I was not victorious in the election. My first attempt at running for president of Nigeria has been successful, and our efforts have had an effect. If it is not difficult, then let them go forward. They aren’t the ones who are begging, are they?

“I don’t see why anyone would have a problem with me running for president. What I’m trying to get at is this: what do the people of Rivers care about? What exactly is it that the South and the South-South have an interest in?
