Meet Nollywood special one Mrs. Ummi Baba-Ahmed, one of the major actresses of the popular family program “Halita” and ONGAcious Family Magazine show host. She is popularly known as Matilda and also called Super Woman on her IG to handle she spoke with Chidinma Tijani of Obaland Magazine and revealed how Halita has opened more doors for all of the crew members and more.
Tell us about yourself? Who is the Super character Matilda of one of the most popular TV programs? Who is Ummi Baba-Ahmed? Lol…Matilda is a woman born to broker power and control…an emotionally restrained woman with a single-mindedness when she wants to get something. She’s ruthless and loves in her own way. Ummi Baba-Ahmed is a mother of three and she is married, very light-minded, and prone to unnecessary laughter, she doesn’t take much serious, a hard worker, and very family oriented. Ummi is a go-getter and a fighter.
Halita make you brighter than the sun?
I am quite a private person, but I do believe that being a public figure shouldn’t mean you live your life for all to see. No, I do my job and go home to be a Wife and Mummy. I love both roles. Hahahaha!!!! Halita has made me and my fellow castmates thankfully gain better skills at our chosen careers, so yes with that in mind, it has made my “sun brighter”. When and Why did you go into the movie?
Several years ago. I in fact wanted to produce. But that didn’t go so well, so I decided to learn any aspect of filmmaking I could, and I worked my way to where I actually wanted to be.
When did you kick off into the film industry? And how has it been?
My main TV debut was on Mr. Dimbo Atiya’s “Sons of Caliphate” and it has been a rollercoaster ride. Being a private person with a public job (a total contradiction) isn’t easy. Lol, “The Caliphate” in 2016/17. Lol. I love and hate it.
What character makes you smile more and any awards?
No awards yet. Who do you consider the best actors in Nollywood? How has the person influenced you so far?
I consider Iretiola Doyle fantastic at what she does. Rita Dominic, to me, takes her craft to another level when it comes to diversity. I haven’t been influenced by an actor so to say. My inspiration comes mainly from the things I read.
How can you rate Haiti?
If I rate Halita I will be biased. If I must rate it, I’ll give it 20 stars out of 10 stars.
What’s the most challenging step you have taken since you became a celebrity?
Am I celeb really? Hahahahaa!!! None so far to be honest. Most of what I allow myself to do is pretty well thought through, the pros and cons are weighed, and I seek advice when I need to.
Nigeria movie industry is still evolving; rate it on a scale of one to ten?
I will rate it five (5) with marvelous improvements every minute.
