A devastating attack by gunmen in Imo State has left 18 people dead, sparking widespread tension in the region. The killings occurred in several communities in Orsu Local Government Area, including Umukabia, Eziawa, Ihittenasa, Umuhu, Amaoku, and Amaebe.

According to eyewitnesses, the victims were found with severe machete wounds, and it’s suspected that the attack was carried out by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The police have launched an investigation into the incident, with the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, setting up a high-powered security team to unravel the case.
The attack is believed to be an attempt to instill fear in the local population and force them to leave their communities. However, the police are urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with the investigation.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for swift action to be taken against the perpetrators.
The Imo State Police Command has promised to do everything in its power to bring those responsible to justice.
