As Nigerians go out to vote tomorrow,  the Forum of Nigerian Women in Politics, FONWIP  has  appealed to everyone to shun every form of violence at the voting centers to allow free and fair elections.
The President, FONWIP, Hon Florence Gbinigie who made the appeal in a statement issued to newsmen in Benin City,  urged Nigerians to remember that “the person that refuse to vote, is the one that made it possible for a  bad government to be voted in to power.
According to her, it is very  important that nobody  should be involve in the selling   or buying of  votes because it is against the electoral laws as they cast their votes peacefully.
” FONWIP  however  has expressed  displeasure over the conduct of the Presidential/ National Assembly election which took place on Saturday February 25, 2023. The election which was marred with irregularities and violence, followed by killings in some parts of the country is grossly unacceptable.
“It was also unfortunate that there were  reports  that some polling units started the voting process late and some could not conclude as the card reader or BVAS malfunctioned, which made it impossible  for the results to be uploaded into the main server for proper documentation according to the electoral act.
“We therefore call on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to put their house in order and correct all the abnormalities before the  Governorship/ States  Assembly elections on Saturday
” We also wish to call on all voters, especially women to come out in their numbers as they did in the last election to exercise their civic rights and responsibilities by casting their votes for the candidates of their choice, and we would be happy  for more  female candidates irrespective of the political party they belong to be voted for” she added.
