Veteran Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has disclosed reasons she stayed away from micro-blogging platform, Twitter, during the general elections.
While responding to a fan’s question as regards reasons she left the popular opinion platform.
The mother of twins stated that the insults she was receiving on the blue app daily were too much for her, hence why she quit.
The fan wrote,
“Madam Funke Akindele I see you…. Longest time…you run away for us Abi what happened?”.
She replied,
“Dem too dey insult people on this App so I stay off. How are you?”.
Recall that her colleague Toyin Abraham also suffered the same trolling on Twitter as she was mercilessly dragged on social media during the election.
Regardless Toyin Abraham stayed put on Twitter and always clap back at online trolls.
Toyin who publicly campaigned for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, was the subject of online trolling and insults during the election.
In an interview, the actress stated that she has never experienced this type of trolling before in her entire life.
Toyin relayed that many users went the extra mile to petition her brands and to urge Netflix to take down her movies.
Her words,
“The intimidation, bullying, abuses, curses in Nigeria, I have never seen this before in my entire life”.
While replying a troll, Toyin Abraham bragged about her worth and achievements so far.
Toyin bragged that she could never be canceled as she believes her fans are loyal to her.
The mother of one bragged to a female fan who tried to warn her of the consequences of her choice of presidential candidate.
The fan stated that if Toyin produce another movie, no one will watch it rather she would end up watching it alone in Tinubu’s parlor.
The fan wrote,
“Let Toyin Abraham mistakenly release movie again. She will watch it alone in Tinubu’s parlor”.
