Nigerian musician and actor, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, is a well-known advocate for social justice and human rights in Nigeria. Through his music, he has been able to address societal issues such as corruption, police brutality, religious intolerance, and political oppression, among others.

One of Falz’s most notable contributions to activism in Nigeria was his involvement in the #EndSARS protests that swept across the country in October 2020. The #EndSARS protests were sparked by the widespread abuse perpetrated by the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of the Nigerian Police Force. Falz was one of the leading voices calling for an end to police brutality and the disbandment of SARS.

Falz has also used his music to address several other societal issues such as corruption, religious intolerance, and political oppression. In 2019, he released a single titled “Talk,” which addresses a range of issues, including corruption, inequality, and the Nigerian government’s attitude to the plight of ordinary Nigerians.

Apart from his music, Falz has also been actively involved in advocacy and awareness campaigns. In 2018, he launched the Sweet Boys Association, a movement aimed at promoting positive masculinity and encouraging young men to be responsible and respectful towards women.

Furthermore, in collaboration with the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), Falz launched a campaign called “Make We Remember” in 2020, aimed at keeping alive the memories of those who have lost their lives to police brutality and other forms of violence in Nigeria.

In conclusion, Falz’s involvement in activism and his efforts to address societal issues through music and advocacy have made him a well-respected voice in Nigeria’s fight for social justice and human rights. As an influencer, Falz has used his platform to draw attention to societal issues and mobilize young people towards effecting change.
