Who is Nikki Spooner ?

I am a 35 year old single mother of two beautiful children. I have a degree in international business and in Music theory. I am a promoter of African cultural values and beliefs but I am also a humanitarian. I love human interaction and enjoy meeting new people. I’ve made loads of friends on my Facebook and lot more waiting to be accepted and I can honestly say I have to attend to every message myself. I was born in Winchester Ma, and raised in Florida where my mother and sister still reside. I moved back to Boston when I was just a teenager and have been living here ever since. I work well with others and believe I would be an asset to any project. I always try to honor all invitations given to me but pray people understand I am a very busy woman. It is my pleasure to sing and perform at any church or gospel event cause God is my rock. I am very interested in the Yoruba culture and heritage .

Can you tell me how this virus and lock down affected you?

Yes I am staying safe, me and my family have been adhering to all the safe distancing protocols.

How have you been coping since?

The virus is scary because I have a daughter with a kidney disease and and a heart condition and if she catches this virus she could potentially die from it. So we are on a full lock down.

What have you been doing since the lock down?

With no jobs due to the shutdown we prepared ahead of time by buying supplies and toiletries.

What have you learnt during this lock down?

Since the lock down I have been working on my second album and the script for a new Netflix series called the Oxford story directed by (Ayo Gold ). I have also be taking some well deserved rest and spending time with my daughter. I have learned the value of quality time spent with your family is priceless and the lives of my friends and family are priceless. I have learned that nobody is invisible and everyone deserves a chance in life. I have been able to support the medical field with my nursing skills and  I’ve been able to assist the members of the community with support locally during this crisis. I have advice for all those reading this that you need to be vigilant and listen to all those health officials, head the  warnings to keep your family safe like I am keeping mine safe.

What’s your advice on our leaders ?

Your leaders should be praised for Quarantining everybody early. They should be praised for bringing in doctors from China to assist. The leaders should be praised for enforcing the ban to protect citizens that are most vulnerable due to the lack of medical supplies due to the lack of electricity and due to the lack of proper funds to feed. I am disappointed that some of the millions of Naira donated was not given to the citizens to adequately prepare themselves to be forced to stay home.

But then again every country has the good things and bad things about their leaders. At least Nigerian leaders acted quickly to stop the the spread.
