Election Update: INEC Declares Tinubu Winner of Presidential Election

The final results of the presidential election conducted on Saturday February 25th, 2023, has been released and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, of the All Progressive Congress (APC) emerged winner.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Bola Tinubu, as the president-elect in the late hours of Tuesday after he polled 8,794,726 in the presidential election.

The three leading presidential candidates Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi won in 12 states each while Rabiu Kwankwaso won in only Kano State.

Tinubu came first with a total votes of 8,794,726, Atiku polled 6,984,520 votes while Peter Obi polled 6,101,533 votes and Rabiu Kwakwanso garnered 1,496,687 votes. Tinubu won his major opposition, Atiku, with 1.8 million votes.

While declaring Tinubu as the winner, INEC chairman said,

“That Tinubu Bola Ahmed of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
