Following the 2023 recruitment exercise into the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency(EDSPHCDA), the shortlisted applicants who made it through the CBT have been slated in batches for oral interviews for competency assessment.

The interview session which is the second phase of the recruitment exercise was held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative hub along airport road in Benin City.

While addressing the applicants, the Executive Secretary of Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwen reiterated that Edo State Government is committed to achieving a well-equipped and functional primary healthcare center across the state with proper staffing for optimal use, hence the recruitment.

He thereafter admonished the participants to put in their best and be objective during the interview session as the best amongst them would be selected to fill the vacancies in PHCs across LGAs.

Also speaking, Dr. Idemudia Osayomore, Director of Community and Family Health (EDSPHCDA) noted that the second step in the recruitment drive by the Government is to fill-up vacancies in the manpower gap in Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency with the needed and competent health personnel.

According to Dr. Idemudia, “the government’s target is to have at least one functional PHC per ward across the state and drawing from the gap analysis carried out, it was revealed that the Agency requires at least 700 Staff to fill up the vacancies in the Agency”

He stressed that there would be another advert for recruitment if the vacancies are not fully covered in the ongoing recruitment exercise.

In the same vein, Dr. Gideon Iraoyha, Director of Disease Control and Immunization (EDSPHCDA) assured that with the right process of the ongoing recruitment, the workforce of the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency would be more efficient. Adding that at the end of the process, there would be an equitable distribution of personnel recruited.

Expressing her gratitude, Mrs. Onariase Edith, one of the applicants who spoke to journalists attested that the recruitment process had been encouraging all through without bias beginning from the online application to the CBT.

She expressed her gratitude to Edo State Government for the opportunity given to her and other job seekers to be employed in the state public service.
