Edo state trains workers for 2022/2023 promotion

Edo State Government has started  the training of officers in the State’s public service due for the 2022 and 2023 promotions, alongside the ongoing transformation of the State’s public/civil service.

Participants were addressed at the two-day training session for officers between Salary Grade Levels 07 and 16, at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) in Benin City, the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., said the State’s civil and public service is now well primed for excellence to deliver quality services to the people.

He restated that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led state government remains committed to realizing the vision of making Edo the best State to live and do business by the year 2050.

Reassuring the government’s commitment to the welfare of the workers, the Head of Service noted, “I am excited about this, and it is our hope and expectation that we will continue to do this. We don’t want a situation where you are due for promotion, and you do not get it. It is now a matter of importance, and going forward, Edo State civil/public officers will not have to suffer stagnancy in their career growth.”

Okungbowa said he is confident that the officers have the capacity to deliver excellently on their assigned duties, adding that Governor Godwin Obaseki is delighted and pleased with how fast and far the service has moved in such a short period of time.

The Head of Service commended the officers for fast adaptation to the e-governance policy and the seamlessness with which they are operating and delivering services, adding that Edo State remains the model and benchmark for other States to measure their e-governance and procurement compliance.

He said that it has been the policy in Edo State to train officers to build their capacity as well as evaluate them before they are promoted to the next higher level, telling the the workers to put in their best, in giving  quality and efficient service delivery to the people of Edo State.
