The Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has been visited by the recently appointed Controller of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Edo State, CIS Uba Waziri. During the visit, the governor pledged to maintain a collaborative and supportive relationship with the Immigration Service to ensure the provision of efficient and effective services to the people of Edo State. During a courtesy visit by the new immigration boss at the Government House in Benin City, the governor reiterated his administration’s dedication to curbing illegal migration and human trafficking within the state.

According to his statement, Edo State, despite not being a border state, has a significant population and draws in migrants, thereby necessitating the provision of immigration services. Over the course of several years, we have maintained a friendly and amicable association with the service. Obaseki contends that the state needs to create a new master plan for the city because the current ones are insufficient in light of the city’s significant growth. The objective is to explore strategies for effectively managing the current state of affairs. It is a fact that the regions currently under the occupation of federal agencies are facing ecological challenges. We are implementing corrective actions to address the issue.

The regions in question are faced with a multitude of challenges, including but not limited to flooding, erosion, and various environmental and anthropogenic factors. Consequently, it is imperative that we engage in a process of re-planning these areas. The Independent Power project has been expanded to include the street where your office is located in Ikpoba-Hill. We urge you to submit an application to us for the extension of Ossiomo Power to your office, which would eliminate the need for purchasing petrol or diesel. It is recommended that your organization extend support towards our collaborative efforts with NAPTIP to curb illegal migration. We remain committed to exploring further avenues for cooperation in challenging circumstances. We will endeavour to identify a means of providing assistance to facilitate your endeavours. We intend to maintain our collaborative efforts with you in order to expand the provision of your services to our populace.

The speaker expressed gratitude for the ongoing support provided by the audience, not only in relation to immigration issues but also with regard to matters of security within the state.CIS Uba Waziri expressed gratitude towards the governor and government of Edo State for their unwavering support of the Nigeria Immigration Service. Waziri conveyed gratitude to the governor for authorizing the allocation of a contract to erect a more extensive passport facility at Auchi for the State Command, thereby fulfilling his commitment to the Command. I express gratitude to you for granting approval for the connection of our command headquarters to the Ossiomo Power. This measure will guarantee the provision of proficient and productive service delivery to the general populace.
