The Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwen has reiterated government commitment to establishing at least one Primary healthcare center in every ward in the State to strengthen healthcare service delivery across the 18 local government areas of the state.
The Executive Secretary who made disclosed this during the week while speaking with journalists in his office at the Edo state secretariat, block B noted that the Edo state government is committed to ensuring that primary health care is more efficient and retains its position as the entry point in accessing the health system in Edo state.
While highlighting the five essential pillars of the reforms at the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ESPHCDA) which includes Infrastructural upgrade, Human Resource Development, Effective Drug Revolving Program, Community participation, and Governance structure; Dr. Izedonmwen emphasized that the Agency has set up Local Health Authorities across the 18 LGA’s to mobilize the community on health-related issues and to identify health challenges in communities.
Also, following the recent Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency maiden Board meeting that was held during the week; the need to Prioritize patient wellbeing as the bedrock of primary health care was emphasized.
The emphasis was made by the board chairman, Dr. Felix Ogedegbe during his opening remarks at the EDSPHCDA Board maiden meeting.
Dr. Felix Ogedegbe appealed that the agency’s staff should develop a new approach to service delivery that would enhance responsive, efficient, and accessible healthcare service delivery across primary healthcare centers in the state.
Part of the agenda of the board’s first maiden meeting was the official inauguration of the eleven(11) board members which includes; Dr. Felix Ogedegbe (Chairman), Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwn(Secretary), Mrs. Dorcas.A.Idehen(MLGC&CA), Pharm. Iboi Friday(PSN), Mr. Lazarus Adorolo (NULGE), Mr. Awoko Joel (NACHPH, EDO), Mrs.Catherine.O.Eseine (NANNM)
