The Lagos State Waterways Authority claims that its weeklong water safety and swimming instruction for kids would help them feel comfortable in and around the water.

Wednesday, LASWA released a statement explaining the event’s collaboration with the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board and Dolphin Swim School.

There was a press release that said, “To catch them young and eliminate water phobia among Lagosians, the Lagos began a weeklong water safety lesson and swimming Training for children in the riverine towns of Epe Local Government Area.

LASWA’s “The Lagos water smart youngsters initiative” (which provides swimming lessons) is in its third iteration, and this year marks the third edition of the programme. In order to help students feel comfortable in and around water, LASWA, SUBEB, and DSS collaborate to provide lessons in water safety, swimming, and basic survival skills.

Fifty pupils were chosen to participate in this year’s event five public schools in riverine villages in the Epe axis of Lagos. Students that take use of the waterways as part of their education will benefit much from this training since they will feel more secure, aware of their surroundings, and capable of handling themselves in an unexpected situation.
