BREAKING: Ekweremadu, wife found guilty of organ trafficking

Senator Ike Ekweremadu, a former Deputy Senate President, and his wife, Beatrice, have been found guilty of organ trafficking by the court in the United Kingdom.

The couple alongside their daughter, Sonia, and a medical doctor, Dr. Obinna Obeta, were found guilty by the court of masterminding how a young man travelled to Britain with the hidden intention exploit his kidney.

According to reports they conspired to bring the 21-year-old man who is a trader Lagos, Nigeria to London to exploit him of his kidney inorder to donate to their daughter who is in need of a kidney transplant.

In another reports released by The Guardian UK, the jury sitting in Old Bailey was presided by Justice Jeremy Johnson, will pass a sentence at a later date.

Senator Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice, their daughter, Sonia and Obeta had been standing trial for organ trafficking in the UK for a long time now.

They were both arrested last year in the United Kingdom for allegedly trafficking a young man from Nigeria into the country, inorder to harvest his kidney.

The young man was allegedly in a false claim to the doctor, presented as Sonia’s cousin in order to persuade doctors to perform an £80,000 private procedure at the Royal Free Hospital in London before their arrest.
