In a significant operation, the Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a suspected drug dealer identified as Kabiru Adamu, known by the street name “Suck and Die.” This arrest marks an important step in the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region. According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Wakil, the operation took place on Friday in the Tudun Wadan Dan Iya area of Bauchi State.
The police, acting on intelligence, deployed operatives from the Rapid Response Squad, under the command of CSP Suleiman M. Tambuwal, to conduct a raid in the Igbo Quarters. This operation led to the recovery of several illicit items, including 264 pieces of OSHN Diamond Rubber Solution and 19 30ml bottles of suspected methylene chloride, colloquially referred to as “Suck and Die.” Additionally, the police recovered 363 empty bottles that were likely used for packaging these substances.
During interrogation, Kabiru Adamu confessed that the substances were supplied to him by his employer, and he received payment for each sale. The suspect revealed that he sold each bottle of “Suck and Die” for N300 and the Diamond Rubber Solution for N250. This underscores the concerning accessibility and affordability of these dangerous substances, which pose a significant threat to public health and safety.
In a related development, the PPRO also announced the arrest of another suspect, Ukasha Adamu, a 23-year-old male, who was detained on November 11, 2024. His apprehension stemmed from a thorough investigation by the State Intelligence Department, which unveiled a series of criminal activities including conspiracy, burglary, and theft. Adamu and his accomplices were reportedly surveilling various stores in the Bauchi metropolitan area, where they inspected keyholes and fabricated keys to break into properties and steal valuable goods.
The police recovered an impressive haul of stolen items from Adamu, including 150 bags of 25kg parboiled rice valued at approximately N6 million, 43 cartons of I.R.S. spaghetti worth N774,000, 20 cartons of Emperor vegetable oil valued at N1.44 million, and 42 cartons of liquid fertilizer valued at N5.04 million. The total estimated value of the recovered goods is around N13.25 million, highlighting the scale of theft occurring in the area.
The PPRO emphasized the importance of community vigilance and urged residents to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. He encouraged the public to take necessary precautions to secure their properties and businesses, especially in light of the recent surge in crime.
The police are committed to continuing their investigation into these incidents, with an aim to apprehend any remaining suspects and retrieve additional stolen goods. This operation reflects the ongoing efforts of the Bauchi State Police Command to enhance public safety and combat crime in the region.
In conclusion, the recent arrests serve as a reminder of the critical need for community cooperation in reporting criminal activities and ensuring the safety of all residents. The police have reaffirmed their dedication to tackling drug-related issues and theft to foster a safer environment for everyone in Bauchi State.
