Chief Joshua Ahmadu, the District Head of Chawai in the Kauru Local Government of the state of Kaduna, has been kidnapped by armed individuals.
On Wednesday, Mr Abel Adamu, President of the Chawai Development Association, made the announcement that Ahmadu had been kidnapped (CDA).
Adamu stated in a statement that was signed by Mr Raphael Joshua, Public Relations Officer of CDA, that the traditional ruler was abducted on Tuesday night “by unknown gunmen who stormed his residence in Zambina.” Adamu made this claim in a statement that was released by CDA.
Adamu was cited as stating that it was alleged that the kidnappers assaulted the residence of the traditional ruler in their numbers at about 9:30 p.m. and snatched him away.
The President of the CDA was also described as expressing dismay over the scenario while assuring locals that the CDA was making every effort to ensure that the victim was freed from the position without suffering any injuries.
“Already, relevant authorities and heads of security operatives on special duty in the chiefdom have been duly informed, and they have already swung into action to rescue the traditional ruler,” the author writes. “Already, relevant authorities and heads of security operatives on special duty in the chiefdom.”
“We are asking all those who call Tsam land their home to pray for the safe return of the district head,”
The statement issued a challenge to the younger members of the chiefdom, urging them to constantly give communal security their full attention in order to prevent incidents like this.
If we want to make sure the land is safe, we have to be on our feet.
“It’s unfortunate that at this critical time, the youths, who ought to be the communal force to guarantee security across communities, are not ready to work in collaboration with security personnel to secure the land,” he lamented. “It’s unfortunate that at this critical time, the youths, who ought to be the communal force to guarantee security across communities.”
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Tsam Chiefdom has been the target of a significant number of kidnappings and attacks by bandits and kidnappers in recent times.
A few of the incidents have resulted in the loss of life, and substantial sums of money have also been paid in order to free victims who have been kidnapped.
The chairman of the CDA has made a plea to the government, requesting that they instruct the security forces to guarantee that the district head is rescued and freed “without conditions.”
NAN has learned that members of the Police Area Command in Kafanchan have since paid a visit to the victim’s family and reassured them that they are prepared to “do all necessary” to save the traditional ruler.
