The Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, Honourable Justice Ekaette Obot, has granted pardon to 12 inmates from the Ikot Abasi and Eket Correctional Centres who have been standing trial for several years.
Obot granted them pardon on Thursday, after a tour to the correctional facilities and attending to the inmates’ case files in Ikot Abasi and Eket Local Government Area.
According to reports three of the inmates released hail from the Ikot Abasi correctional centre, while the remaining nine are from the Eket correctional centre.
During his visit, Justice Obot donated drugs and toiletries to the two correctional facilities for the benefit of the inmates.
