As the 2024 election in Edo state draws near, religious leaders have been enjoined to encourage their members to be interested in who becomes the next governor and refuse to be docile.
The Edo State Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Zubeiru Dada Abubakar who made the appealĀ  during a courtesy visit by the leadership of theĀ  Muslim Youth in Politics to his office said every candidate who want to serve humanity should be x-rayed.
“This is not the time to be docile and believe that politics is a dirty game. If we are engaged in politics by encouraging like minds, there will be hope in the country and the state in particular.
“I implore and encourage you to be firm and enlighten other like minds to be involve in politics. You have a right to choose who leads you. Since the time table is out, now is the time to help choose who will rule you,” he added.,
According to the Commissioner, Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki want to finish well and strong and that involves having a successor that will continue with the achievements ofĀ  the administration.
He told them to ensure that they emerge as delegates that will nominate candidates and be involve in the campaign process, because when offices are being shared, only those who participated will benefit.
In a related development the Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon Dada Abubakar also commended the peaceful co-existence between the religious bodies in the state and he said the cordial relationship should be sustained.
The Commissioner made the commendation during the courtesy visit of the leadership of the Muslim Students, University of Benin/University of Benin Teaching Hospital to his office.
WhileĀ  advisingĀ  them to be disciplined and consistent in doing what is good at all times, Hon. Abubakar noted that, ” you do not need to soar your hands to succeed in whatever you are doing. You have a living example with me, stay on that line and many more opportunities will come your way if you are consistent in doing what is positive.”
The President, Muslim Society of Nigeria, UNIBEN/UBTH, Idegbesor Abdul Azeez
who presented an award of recognition plaque to the Commissioner, disclosed that the Youths are very happy with his appointment.
Ā “Even before you got the appointment, we know what you are doing. You promoted the religion and you have been a mentor. The plaque of recognition is to thank you for what you are doing for youths and the Muslim Community acrossĀ  the state” he added.
The Director, Shared Services, Malam Usman Binanu and the Director of Youth, Aiyegbeni Balogun expressed their appreciation to the Muslim Youth groups for taking their rightful position in the society and appealed to them to reach out to others.
